Monday Inspiration

I’m beginning to realize that, whether you work for others or work for yourself, Mondays can be a little less than inspiring on the old Life is Inspiring/Life is Crap meter.

I’ve found a few things this past week that have me excited. I hope they inspire you, too.

My friend Anna Atkinson is an amazing musician, back for her second season with the Stratford Shakespeare Festival. This past winter, she recorded a CD that will be launching June 9th.  In this video, she sings Lucybelle. Brilliant!

Alan and I met Bill Conklin and David Hallman years ago when we had our bread table at the Farmers Market.  They would come through in the summer time, Bill carrying a coffee cup chosen to match his shirt.  They welcomed us into their circle of friends and we shared meals and conversations and celebrations with them.

Bill died nearly two years ago of pancreatic cancer, just 16 days after he was diagnosed.  It was a shock to all of us.  David has written August Farewell,  a beautiful, moving memoir of that time and the wonderful life they shared in the 33 years leading up to it.

And if you’re now feeling more intimidated than inspired by all this creativity and amazingness, please head over to Free Range Humans and watch this video.  Marianne Cantwell is an amazing life coach, who helps people break free of the cubicle life and head out on their own. And she does this so gently and with such a lot of encouragement. I’m a huge fan of hers and hope you will be, too.

Well I’m feeling a little more inspired now, how about you?

  3. This is the most amazing stuff. I can’t tell you how much I look forward to your posts. ‘Lucybelle’ was fun.

FreeRangeHumans – well, what can I say. That video was inspiring, touching… all that good stuff. It actually made me cry. I left the ‘cubicle world’ in 2008 and my daughter, Nicole Dean, was instrumental in getting me out. I was so sad – not being able to see my grandkids and my family, when I wanted to. Those damned 2 weeks vacation sucked big time! She said, “Hey Mom, write something. I did… She said, Hey Mom, you can write!” So, I escaped my j-o-b and started writing, for my daughter and others. It’s been such a wonderful experience. Scary? Yes. Worth every drop of sweat? Indeed! Thanks, Barb, for this wonderful post.

  4. And thanks for sharing your story Patti!
